"Lovely staff, very kind and funny. The food and drinks are great, we ate the cheese and garlic bread from the starters, an excellent pairing. They have the traditional fish with banana. We also ordered the tuna belly meal, fatty and fishy (in a good way). All the meals are big and filling, we were very hungry and a couple of starters and one meal each was enough."

"Super friendly staff. We've had red snapper, a catch of the day, grilled and lovely potatoes with fresh salad. Garlic bread was also delicious. And sangria was a wow, with some fresh mint leaves which gave it a very fresh note. Absolutely loved it. We recommend that place."

"The service was excellent and the tables outside were perfect for the balmy evening. We had the partridge and the espada for mains which were both very tasty. Olives and rustic garlic bread were a great start and the passion fruit mousse a great finish. All in all an extremely enjoyable experience and would definitely eat here again."

"This is a very nice restaurant located just around the corner from Funchal Cathedral. The food was tasty, the staff were friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We were even given a complimentary shot of passionfruit liqueur before we left, which was a lovely touch. Thank you Taberna da Sé for a lovely evening!"

"Amazing unassuming little local restaurant. Seems unassuming at first with a varied menu and no one, but then I was surprised at how good the food and service was. Must order the shrimps sauteed in garlic oil, with a side of bread to soak up the olive oil. So delicious and I ate all the bread! Must also order the fries (they are freshly cut and fried, not frozen fries). Ask for house chilli/spicy sauce as well. Service is friendly and made great recommendations. 10/10 would come again"
